Treatment
"I've been Reggie's veterinarian since he was 3 months old. I want to be here for him and his family during these critical times." – Dr. Teresa Meekins, referring DVM
For the last three years, Dr. Meekins has been working closely with Reggie's owner to manage his diabetes. Proper diet, urine and blood sugar testing, and optimal insulin dosing are just part of an ongoing wellness dialogue she maintains with Reggie's owner. So when Reggie, a 12-year old Bichon Frise, started having seizures, Dr. Meekins first response was to turn to the team of specialists at Western Veterinary Cancer Centre. She knew we had the breadth of experience and expertise to address the challenges Reggie was now facing. She also knew that we would keep her closely engaged at all times, allowing her to guide Reggie's family in making the best, most informed decisions possible. And, hopefully, a healthier Reggie would be able to return quickly to the care of her practice. Click here to find out more.
Point of Excellence: Protocols and Best Practices
The treatment protocols that matter to us at the Western Veterinary Cancer Centre are those that help achieve positive outcomes, returning the animal to the care of your practice and the owner for as long as possible. Our staff members have the highest specific qualifications to recommend, perform and support any type of cancer therapy.
Pathology Consultations
All a veterinarian has to do to obtain a consultation based on a biopsy report is call us. There are no forms to fill out or cumbersome protocols obstructing what may be a critical first contact. The shared motivation is concern for a patient. We believe our willingness to provide free-of-charge telephone consults for veterinarians sets Western Veterinary Cancer Centre apart in an important way.
In the case of radiographs or other imaging technologies, there is a form, necessitated by the need to be sure records are kept in order and confidence. However, a simple phone call will get the process underway quickly.
