Dr. Glenna Mauldin graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, SK, in 1985. After completing her internship (1986) and medical oncology residency (1988) at The Animal Medical Center in New York City, Dr. Mauldin attended Cornell University and was awarded a Master of Science in nutrition. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Specialty of Oncology, in 1991; she was awarded diplomate status by the American College of Veterinary Nutrition in 2004. Dr. Glenna Mauldin served as a Staff Veterinarian in Oncology and Nutrition at The Animal Medical Center from 1990 through 1997, and as an Associate Professor of Veterinary Oncology at Louisiana State University from 1998 through 2007.
Point of Excellence: Leadership on Two Fronts
Dr. Mauldin was a member of the examination committee for the Specialty of Oncology from 1998 through 2001, and served as Committee Chair from 2000 to 2001. She was President of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Specialty of Oncology from 2004 through 2007, and will be a Member at Large for the American College of Veterinary Nutrition from 2007 through 2010.
Dr. Mauldin has authored over 75 scientific articles, book chapters and abstracts, and lectures frequently at national and international meetings. Together with Dr. Neal Mauldin, she has successfully trained 15 residents in medical oncology. Her areas of research interest include cancer cachexia, canine and feline lymphoma, and hematology.
Dr. Mauldin is delighted to be returning home to Calgary, and looks forward playing an active role in the development of the Cancer Centre for Animals here at WVSEC.
