Debby Henderson, BSc, DVMDiplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine
Dr. Debby Henderson graduated from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. She practiced in emergency and general practices in Texas and Saskatoon before coming to Calgary in 1982. In 1989 she became part of a large central hospital in Calgary, managing hospitalized and critical cases, until 2005 when she began a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the CARE Centre. She completed the Residency in 2008 and recently passed the certification examination for Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine-Specialty of Small Animal Internal Medicine.
In 1998 she became licensed to perform radioactive iodine therapy for hyperthyroid cats and has treated over 700 cats with I 131- "the cure" for feline hyperthyroidism.
She has co-authored several papers as well as contributing to the learning tool "Vet Board Games".
During her Residency, her research focused on diabetic ketoacidosis. Special areas of interest include diabetes, hyperthyroidism and other endocrinopathies, renal and hepatic diseases, immune-mediated disease, intensive care case management and radioactive iodine therapy for feline hyperthyroidism.
Dr. Henderson has worked with the referring veterinary community in Calgary and the surrounding area for many years and we look forward to continuing these relationships.
